Curriculum

Unapologetically Traditional

VFP partners with families to build order in life, family, and community.

We are similar to homeschool co-ops like Classical Conversations that emphasize the primary role of parents in their children’s education, but we differ from them in that we stress two very important things:

1. the role of a father as head of his family, and the leader in all areas of his family’s life, especially in education

2. the need to learn traditional skills according to traditional roles

Boys Taught By Men

Men are called to teach their children with diligence the things of God and way he should go. Men must teach their sons what it is to care for his household and his community with integrity, courage, and sacrifice.

Girls Taught by Women

Older women are to teach younger women to love their families, exercise self-control, manage their households well, and respect their husbands, thereby upholding the word of God (See Titus 2:3-5).

This is not to say that boys and girls will always be separate. On the contrary, there are many times when they are learning together. Nevertheless, we believe that it is vital for boys to be learning from men and for girls from women, a pattern rarely found in schools today where the faculty, certainly in the younger grades but even in high schools, is predominantly female.
